About artist: James is a graphic designer and abstract painter based in south Dublin. Working with oils, acrylics and mixed media, he constantly experiments with materials and surfaces, always being open to any unexpected effects that may occur along the way. Most pieces start off with a definite plan in mind, but usually take off in an entirely different direction. The journey from blank canvas to finished piece is like life itself - full of random twists and turns and ending up in unexpected places. “I strive to convey mood and atmosphere with texture and depth playing an important role. Inspiration is drawn partly from nature and the ever changing moods of the Irish landscape - sometimes bright and beautiful, sometimes dark and oppressive. I also like to experiment with more abstract work - geometric shapes and patterns, rigid, controlled spaces, but with an undercurrent of chaos”.
