Description
About artist: Based in Dublin, my work is informed by frequent stays on the western edges of Ireland. My practice is interdisciplinary, encompassing sound art, drawing, printmaking, and assemblage. I explore themes of collective memories, concealment, cognitive dissonance, and epigenetics.
Recent projects include "OUT OF PLACE," a three-person show at Gallery Wolf & Galentz in Berlin, featuring immersive sound and letterpress with etching, and a two-person show at Asna Gallery in 2022, featuring an interdisciplinary installation. In 2020, my sound piece "Wordsteps" won the Dublin County Award for Heritage Week. My fine art prints are held in public and private collections.
I have received arts awards from the Irish Arts Council and DLR Co. Co., and I am a member of the Graphic Studio Dublin. I completed an MFA in 2018 at the National College of Art & Design, Dublin, and have been selected for numerous artist residencies, including Greywood Arts and Aras Eanna (2024), the Tyrone Guthrie Centre (2025), Limerick Printmakers (2020), and Cill Rialaig (2021, 2020, 2015).
About artwork: This piece is one of a series and combines the techniques of etching with letterpress which posed interesting formal challenges. The themes are part of an ongoing inquiry into landscape, the people in it and memory in particular the elements that are hidden, suggested, suppressed, or half-remembered. The series questions our relationship with Place and Land, interrogating the impulse to measure and to control. The printed surfaces evoke the textures of landscapes, interwoven with elements of maps, numbers, and letters, all drawn from cartographic references. Each piece challenges the viewer to reconsider the boundaries we impose on the natural world and our perceptions of it. 'In these works, wilderness is juxtaposed to modes of containment inviting the observer to question our relationship with the land, with the environment, with planet earth. Are these phenomena just resources for use, only valued as utility, or are they to be revered and recognised as essential to our own existence’.
