About artist: Aoife Dillon is a painter whose work explores the intangible experience of the dreamscape; a night portal into the psyche, capturing the ethereal spaces between wakefulness and sleep. The dreamscapes, created with acrylic paint, serve as mirrors for the psychological terrain- the vastness of an open landscape becoming mimetic of the deep internal mechanisms that push our lives in certain directions. Rooted in Jungian theories surrounding dream analysis and how the decryption of the unconscious can act as a catalyst for self awareness and internal harmony, the work imbues a sense of tranquility. Especially in light of the tumultuous global climate, her paintings aim to seek solace and connection, guided by mother nature's innate wholeness. The work adds depth to the ongoing discourse on the connection between art and self-awareness. Notable achievements include showcasing her painting 'Motherland' at Tate Britain in 2021 as part of the promotion for the 'Life Between Islands' exhibition, being featured in the Irish Arts Review in 2022, and most recently exhibiting at the Copper House Gallery this April in Dublin. Aoife recently organised a group show titled 'The Lost Land' in the Clancy Quay studio and has completed a residency at Can Serrat in Barcelona and the Unruly Collective in New York.
About artwork: Typically, my work utilises the natural world as a mirror for the psychological terrain as I envision dreamlike landscapes akin to faint memories, laced with warmth and serenity. ‘Moonlit’ is an abstracted scene of nature that imbues the feeling of a dream, a world both familiar and unknown.  Colour is applied intuitively and this loose, experimental nature provides a melodic quality to the work, presenting an alive and harmonic world in which the viewer can relax into. The silver leaf, the lightness and shine of the moon and stars, sets the dreamscape in the night, at the time of deep sleep and temporary emigration into the unconscious.
