Description
About artist: I'm a freelance illustrator based in Dublin, Ireland, with a real passion for both illustration and fine art. I’m drawn to the weird and wonderful, with a particular love for mythology, folklore, and surrealism. As a bisexual woman and proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I try to bring a unique perspective to everything I create.
About artwork: ‘Friend of Dorothy’ delves into queer slang, featuring a torn-open box of cigarettes, or ‘fags,’ sitting on a table. The term ‘fag’ is a slang word for both cigarettes and gay men, often used in a derogatory sense. The artwork offers a playful but poignant commentary on the evolution of queer language and identity, transforming something once harmful into an expression of pride and rebellion.
