About artist: Graduating from West Wales School of the Arts, Jade Butler is an Irish artist whose practice investigates the complex relationships between society, the environment, technology and capitalism. Jade recently exhibited in the Royal Hibernian Academy 194th Annual Exhibition and has previously exhibited in annual exhibitions of the Royal Hibernian Academy, the Royal Ulster Academy, the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Society of Women Artists. About artwork: A portrait from a series exploring the complex experience of modern youth through paintings that seek to capture the essence of the contemporary teenager’s existence. My work delves into the multifaceted layers of their lives, weaving together elements of their unique style, pervasive relationship with technology and social media, as well as portraying them as individuals in a personal and psychologically interesting manner. The series offers a contemporary perspective on the present and future trajectories of the younger generation, inviting viewers to reflect on the complexities and nuances of youth culture in the 21st century.
