About artist: Ríon Duffy Murphy (he/they) is a visual artist based in Dublin. Their work spans fine art textiles, publication, digital art, and socially engaged, collaborative art events. He is co-director of the trans-led, anticapitalist fine art collective gender.RIP, and co-founder of the independent Irish art magazine Lemon Piglet. Ríon’s practice engages with topics such as queerness, trauma, community, and gender. His most recent work explores connection and intimacy from a trans, neurodivergent perspective, through a series of tactile, technicolour textile sculptures. About artwork: Star Drop is a wall-based sculpture. It is made from a mix of felt, velvet, satin, faux fur and beading; and is squishy and soft to the touch. It is part of a larger series, which explores touch, intimacy, and connection from a trans and neurodivergent perspective. The intention of the piece is to provide a burst of joy, and positive, playful sensory stimulation. The piece is lightweight, and there is a hook attached to the back for hanging.
