Anthony Carey is a multidisciplinary artist from Dublin, Ireland. Influenced by abstract expressionism, Carey’s paintings are fueled by life experiences, personal relationships and perceptions of memory.
Essential within his process is the material qualities of the medium as he uses textural qualities to relate directly to something real; something that can be physically and emotionally touched. The concept of colour drawn from memory usually is fantasy and used as a direct response to mood. Carey’s work concerns itself with pathways to consciousness, to create something tangible, captured through residues of colour.
An exhibitor at The London Art Biennale 2021, his work has been presented nationally and across Europe. His first short film, ‘Story’, created in 2021, has been selected and screened by multiple film festivals worldwide and won numerous awards.
