Description:: I work primarily in oil paint. My paintings deal with ideas of materiality, process, and narrative . Source material from social media platforms as well as self-documentation and personal family heritage form a starting point to explore ideas of contemporary storytelling. My practice lives in the space between familiar and unfamiliar . There are many failures, and each layer is built on a failure. There is something that happens in there between layers, between glazes, it is like the slowing down of time, like a methodical move forward, like multi-tasking in slow motion. The constant scarring and destruction of numerous layered paint surfaces produces something beautiful, sometimes. Sometimes something beautiful is built on failures.
