Description
About artist: I'm an Irish visual artist based in Cork city. I work in charcoal, watercolour, and oils on paper and canvas. I'm very interested in embodiment, from the perspective of sensation, knowledge, being in the world, connection, and ephemerality. In my work, I emphasis embodiment through theme, gestural brushwork and an openess to the mediums' characteristic qualities.
About artwork: This is a watercolour of a raven as trickster demiurge. The idea of the demiurge as an ambivalent, subordinate god, an artisan-like figure, dates back to Plato. Raven appears in many folk tales as a Prometheus-like figure, as a stealer of light. In their never ending quest for food, and their adaptability and resilience in times of change, Raven has the ability to transform the physical world, and it has been said that the future is stacked in their favour.
