About artist: James Rooney is a painter, illustrator and graphic designer based in south Dublin. Self taught, James has been painting since 2000, creating atmospheric abstract paintings in oils, acrylics and mixed media.
About artwork: Representing the background noise and diversions wrestling for our attention in our day to day lives, the textured cardboard surface attempts to provide a foundation of stability against the competing and chaotic colour layers on top. These colour strips were painted as a separate piece, torn into strips and pasted on top.
