Description
About artist: Yoko Akino was born in Kyoto, Japan in 1967. Her grandmother Fuku Akino was a well-known artist working in traditional Japanese paints. Akino says: “I grew up with my grandmother and learned the qualities and the spirit of art from her. Apart from that I am self-taught. My first works were in ink and gouache. I love crisp lines and so I began to study etching”. Moving to Ireland in 1996, Akino joined Graphic Studio Dublin, and has worked there since then. She has participated in many group and solo shows in Ireland, Sweden, Poland and Japan. She lives in Co. Louth.
About artwork: Synesthesia: The production of a sense impression relating to one sense or part of the body by stimulation of another sense or part of the body.
