Description
About artist: Andrew Folan studied at NCAD Dublin and the Slade School, University College London. He holds degrees in Fine Art, Print & Photography and a PhD in Media.
He is a member of the Royal Hibernian Academy. His work is in the collections of IMMA, University College Dublin, Department of the Taoiseach and Central Bank of Ireland.
About artwork: The Electric City series was partly inspired by my reading the novel Station Eleven by Emily St.John Mandel (fairly standard lockdown reading at the time) and is also connected to my long term fascination with celestial phenomena and the transformation of carbon into diamond. This work references the lights of a distant city and through the spoils of war turns time backwards on itself.
