About artist: Hazel Coonagh is a Dublin based visual artist. Hazel began her career as a photographer and began shifting her focus towards the visual arts. Using her skills as a photographer as a basis for her artwork. Through mixing the medium with watercolors, stitching and various other techniques, Hazel transforms photographs in to other worldly surrealistic scenes. Hazel has previously exhibited with Crawford Gallery Cork, Art Riddler show Dublin, Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, Hangtough Contemporary Dublin and Outset Galway to name a few.
About artwork: This piece is an original one of a kind Giclee print of a photographic and watercolor piece. The portrait depicts a figure wrapped in the euphoria of music. It is a nod to traditional Irish music, in particular the ballads which hold great significance and poignance in our culture.
