About artist: I am a visual artist, originally from Limerick, now living in Galway on the West Coast of Ireland. The main sources for my work are in the observations and occurrences of daily life, and in particular I like to explore colour and pattern. I like to use domestic processes to respond to these daily events, therefore I very often incorporate drawing, paint, collage and stitch in my work. The co-existence of various media in my art gives me a sense of ease. Alongside my own art, I teach design, graphics, textile printing, embroidery & collage techniques to adult learners in Galway City. I have a husband, three daughters and two cats.
About artwork: Stacked 6 is from a series which was an exploration into linear patterns of colour juxtaposed with black and white. The individual colours are painted acrylic or emulsion onto duck cotton and then cut and pasted (collaged) onto an artist's mdf panel. The artwork is professionally float framed in a handmade white wooden frame by Spiddal Picture Framing, Co Galway
