Description
About artist: Catherine has a love of Art & Design in all its forms. She initially studied Art Design & Mixed Media, Display Design & later Graphic Reproduction Post Grad Diploma. Her love of Abstract Art stayed with her during her 26 years of Visual Display career. These facets of Design, greatly informed her painting style to evolve & bring an awareness of shape colour & form . Concrete grey smokey tones are her signature style & provide a backdrop to areas of texture & highly contrasting saturated colour!
About artwork: This Artwork appears rather ethereal & organically softer in composition. Greens, sages & warm putty tones are very easy on the eye . There are smokey tones which are evidently signiture style of the artist. Highlights of copper add significant accents to the painting. The surface structure is almost carved into the canvas using modelling paste to build it up with an almost a sculptural element to it. Texture once again plays a huge part in the work. The work symbolises the passing of time, life is fleeting! In the blink of an eye things can change ... our thoughts become memories. We exist, but we too are also "fleeting" and are " Passing Through! ".
