Description
About artist: Anne Martin Walsh, (b 1962)
Anne Martin Walsh completed a Masters in Fine Art at CIT Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork in January, 2019, and a BA Hons (1st class) in Art from the Wexford Campus School of Art & Design, IT Carlow, 2017. Her practice is multidisciplinary. Central to these works are themes of sexual and cultural identity that relate to our natural environment and reference a range of topics taken from history and mythology. Her work often suggests a state of flux and reciprocity between past and present, earthly and otherworldly, seen and unseen. Anne Martin Walsh was awarded The Living Arts Project Residency with WAC & WCC in 2017 and 2019. She was also awarded an ArtLinks Bursary by Wexford County Council Arts Department in 2020 and 2022 and an Agility Award 2022 from the Arts Council of Ireland. She received the Cahir Arts Studio Residency Award from South Tipperary Arts Office for 2022/2023. She was selected to be part of the MAKE/Curate programme for 2023/2024, a partnership initiative between Wexford Arts Centre and the Arts Department of Wexford County Council. Anne was also awarded a residency at Cill Rialiag Artists Retreat in September, 2023. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally. Solo shows include: A MIND’S EYE, Cahir Arts Gallery, 2023. My Bones are Creaking Hawthorn, co-curated by Anya von Gosseln, Wilton Mills, Wexford, 2022. NATURE COLLATED, The Presentation Arts Centre, Co. Wexford, 2021, and VIBRATION. Embracing a Higher Connection to Our Planet, 2020, curated by Anya Gosseln, Kamera 8, Wexford. Anne Martin Walsh is currently continuing her investigation into ‘Thin Places’, while working on a new body of work.
