About artist: My artist practice is interdisciplinary working across media including sound art, drawing, printmaking, paint and assemblage. Focused primarily on place and landscape, I am interested in memory, deep mapping, and the communal history of place, in particular the elements that are hidden, suggested or half remembered. What I make are not accurate topographical depictions, but more what is sensed, it is about the landscape, and is a response to both what is there and the hidden history within it. We have powerful associations, and embodied memories, in the places we know. I try to capture this relationship. I use a variety of techniques including printmaking and painting. My fine art print is regularly exhibited throughout Ireland and abroad. Most recently in a joint exhibition in Asna Gallery Clonakilty in June 2022. It is included in the OPW Collection, held in the Archives of the Botanic Gardens Dublin, Cill Railaig Kerry and the Graphic Studio Dublin and in private collections in Ireland, the UK, Austria and New Zealand. I have received arts awards from the Irish Arts Council, and DLR Co. Co., I am a member of the Graphic Studio Dublin. I completed an MFA in 2018 and artist residencies in Limerick Printmakers (2020) in Cill Rialaig (2021, 2020, 2015), Berlin 2009, New York ASL 1999.
About artwork: The weather! An image made in layers of texture and colour, collaged paper and glazes. This image presented itself, suggestive of someone struggling through a downpour laden with shopping bags. For the year that’s in it. (The reserve covers out of pocket costs)
