Description
About artist: Seán Molloy is a Dublin-based fine art painter. His work to-date explores connections between baroque-inspired imagery and visual mediation in an increasingly digitised world, and how these intersect to unearth a sense of nostalgia, displacement and haunting. He received a 1st class BA in fine art painting (NCAD, 2011), followed by an MFA (NCAD, 2013).
About artwork: The subject for this work is an oblique reference to Shakespeare’s Ophelia. The title suggests the metaphysical state of the subject, inhabiting both the land of the living and the dead. The glitch-like overpainting refers to digital traces, the result of data decomposition.
