About artist: Denise McShannon, originally from Belfast; is a figurative painter. She studied in London and Berlin before settling in Dublin. Her interest lies mostly with the figure in landscape; inspired by the poetic and powered by memory of intense sensory experience. This encounter is an earthy fusion of substance and light, explored through the materiality of coloured pigment. Her work has been exhibited throughout Ireland, the Uk and Berlin. Her work has been included in both private and public collections.
About artwork: I'm lucky to get to spend lots of time in the Mourne Mountains.. This mountain rises up in the back garden. It is ever present. I say hello to it every morning and bid it goodnight in the evenings. .This painting is part of a series of small works, that records the different light on the mountain at different times of the day.
