About artist: Emma Hayes is primarily a painter, working in her studio in Dunboyne. Co Meath. Her work is informed by her internalised experiences, childhood memories and immediate surroundings. Hayes has a very deep sense of how fast time goes. The idea of existence is a question that she is intrigued by. It is important to cherish the everyday mundane things in our lives. Thinking about time that has past, trying to live in the present moment and looking forward to future experiences are considered while she makes these carefully considered brushstrokes in all her works. Waking up each day on purpose dedicated to fulfilling the unlimited potential that is within all of us. Self-talk is very important in how we think, feel, and behave. Positive self-talk encourages our minds to be more joyful, grateful and content. While on a journey of seeking more fulfilment and enjoyment out of life, she depicts this through gradual layers of oil paint on canvas. Through collage, paint and installation, she is interested in the process of making a picture, by reinventing indoor and outdoor scenes that depict moments and experiences in her life. Through collage, paint and installation, Hayes is interested in the process of making a picture. The process of how Hayes makes a painting is a key focus in how she makes a work. Using gestural marks, confident brushstrokes, minimal strokes and overlapping layers and shapes. Hayes is interested in how we represent ourselves within our own environment through saturated colours, layered elements and our experiences.
About artwork: A playful artwork that brings the outdoors indoors with hills and clouds coming out of the minimal grey frame. The idea of nature and nurture colliding together through gestural brushstrokes, stars and dreams.
