About artist: Síle is a Visual Artist that lives with her husband and two children in Tramore, Waterford . A former Veterinary nurse and Lifeguard Trainer she practiced art at an amateur level and after a hiatus from practice while her children were young she returned to art five years ago with the aim to build a career as a professional artist. Síle set up a studio space and began to build a body of work with which to represent herself. The majority of her work is figurative and based around her family and the local community that gravitate towards the ocean. She has exhibited extensively over the past five years including a Solo Show in Flash Gallery, Barcelona, the RHA and RUA. She was a heat contestant in both Sky Portrait Artist 2019 and Sky Landscape Artist 2022. Síle is currently working towards several shows with the finale of a Solo Show in The Limerick Museum in January 2024 curated by Maurice Quillinan. She is enjoying her trajectory into the art world and to continuing to evolve her practice as a full time artist.
About artwork: This piece was based on a coffee date with my brother. Our usual café was closed so we went to the nearest Starbucks. It was dark and raining and the LED lighting awful décor and awful coffee really brought our mood and body language down.
