Description
About artist: Seán Cotter (born 1969) is a graduate of The National College of Art and Design, Dublin. Seán works primarily in oils but has used both video and print in his practise and is based in Co. Meath.
He has held numerous solo exhibitions, which most recently include Boulder Milt, viewed online with the support of an Arts Council Covid-19 Response Award, Hinterland at Gormleys Art Gallery in Belfast 2013, Memorate at Millennium Court Arts Centre, Portadown 2011, The Slow Decent at Gormleys, Dublin 2010, The Traveller at The Basement Gallery, Dundalk 2009 and Notational Morphologies at Lapua Art Museum, Lapua, Finland 2008 and Galway International Arts Festival (GIAF) 2009. He has been involved in numerous group exhibitions throughout Europe since 1991, exhibiting in England, Scotland, Germany, France, Norway, Finland and Ireland. Seán has created solo exhibitions for Eigse Carlow Arts Festival 2005 and GIAF 1994 and 2009 and been both invited and selected for the Royal Hibernian Academy Annual Exhibition over the past number of years. In 2017 he exhibited back at GIAF at 126 Gallery, while been selected for 30 Years, Artists, Places in 2015 and Landscape at Limerick City Gallery of Art, 2012.

- 7.42, Curated with Aoife Ruane and Esa Honkimaki. Exhibited at Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda, Lapua Museum, Lapua and The Cable Factory, Helsinki. Artists participating were Abigail O’Brien, Thomas Brezing, Seán Cotter and Mary Kelly, 2012.
Commissions include video work for The Poetry Project, curated by Patrick T Murphy and Gemma Tipton in 2013 and Kildare County Council in 2008 to create a series of drawings and a large painting, and his work is included in the collections of The Lapua Art Museum (Finland), Limerick City Gallery of Art, Lapua Arts and Science Foundation (Finland), The Contemporary Irish Art Society, Office of Public Works, Aviva Investors (London), College of Humanities Limerick, Kildare, Louth and Wicklow County Councils and Drogheda Borough Council and in the private collections of President Michael D Higgins and the Pulitzer prize winning journalist Ron Brownstein.
