About artwork: Kilbogget Square is a series of 15 small paintings undertaken in response to a call from the Olivier Cornet Gallery for an exhibition of small works, all sized 15 x 15 cm. For this, Padhraig set a daily alarm for 15:15 (3.15pm) and spent at least 15 minutes walking in his local park at Kilbogget, County Dublin, taking reference photographs and absorbing visual elements; shapes of trees, foliage, wildlife, water, weeds, stonework, etc. Back in the studio, the artist made preliminary, intuitive marks on paper as visual response, mnemonic, and source. The resulting 15 paintings were then created concurrently in studio as an integrated series, drawing on his immersion in this environment, subconscious and all.
