Description
About artist: I am originally from Quebec, Canada. After finishing college, I travelled and finally "settled" in Ireland 17 years ago. I have worked as an artist for the last couple of years, as well as continuing to work in the community and environment sectors part-time.
About artwork: "13th summer" is a portrait influenced by my first born that channels all the strong emotions of a first child entering teenage years as they begin their journey to secondary school and all the changes that this entails. As I waved goodbye to her on her first morning going on the big bus, I felt everything from pride to sadness, and total restlessness from dealing with all these feelings. So I painted her, the last summer photo of her 13th summer, at the dawn of her life, shinning bright, already showing the teenage frown and just about hiding the eye rolling!
