Description
About artist: Seán Molloy is a Dublin-based fine art painter. His work to-date explores connections between baroque-inspired imagery and visual mediation in an increasingly digitised world, and how these intersect to unearth a sense of nostalgia, displacement and haunting. He received a 1st class BA in fine art painting (NCAD, 2011), followed by an MFA (NCAD,2013).
About artwork: This work is loosely based on images of women’s fashion from between the wars. The loosely modelled stance and shape of the figure helped to form the title for this work as it suggested a combination of permissiveness and elegance. The overpainted glitches are in this case an attempt at recreating what looks like a screenshot from film footage of this era.
